In My Mailbox 2.26.12

Hey readers, here are the books in my mailbox this week:

>Young Adult

>Adult

~My goodness am I loving this so far. It's a western romance and I'm so glad to have found one that is readable for me. I know others want to be able to get lost in a good western romance but can't...stop abusing the search engines and try the Rock Creek Series my Lori Handeland and Linda Devlin(not sure if they're the same person); it's lively and will introduce you to fun-amusing characters.
~Gah! I can't wait to start Sullivan's story!
~After reading Breaking Point by Pamela Clare, which was an amazing read, I went on a spree for another adventure-suspense romance...figured Out of Control could help with my withdrawal symptoms *wink*

I found out about this book when I came across the sequel, The Kingdom, which releases March 27 2012. Usually I'm not interested in ghost stories but based on the book description and the first few pages...I thought I might like it.

Well that's all I got for now. What did you get in the Mailbox this week?

The Fault in Our Stars by John Green Review

Book Description:

Diagnosed with Stage IV thyroid cancer at 12, Hazel was prepared to die until, at 14, a medical miracle shrunk the tumours in her lungs... for now.

Two years post-miracle, sixteen-year-old Hazel is post-everything else, too; post-high school, post-friends and post-normalcy. And even though she could live for a long time (whatever that means), Hazel lives tethered to an oxygen tank, the tumours tenuously kept at bay with a constant chemical assault.

Enter Augustus Waters. A match made at cancer kid support group, Augustus is gorgeous, in remission, and shockingly to her, interested in Hazel. Being with Augustus is both an unexpected destination and a long-needed journey, pushing Hazel to re-examine how sickness and health, life and death, will define her and the legacy that everyone leaves behind.

My Review:

I feel like I'm the only one about to give a rating below 4 stars but I must be honest:

This was a "bipolar read" for me. The story was gripping but exasperating at the same time. I appreciate the sip of raw/original teen characters but I kept wishing for the point of the story to come already. Why? Because the characters got way too "I'm unlucky but unforgettably gifted" AND irritating with their "impressive" remarks, speeches, etc...

I don't want to spoil the book in any way so lastly, I will admit that I was a little intimidated at times but what really made me want to run from this book was the moral of the story that seemed to grow like a never-ending mosquito bite. Itchy as hell too.

Verdict: give it a try.
